The government of Telangana in an attempt to create connectivity between several districts, takes an initiative to construct a Regional Ring Road in 340 kilometres. The four-lane expressway connects 17 national and state highways that includes major TS districts and 20 towns.
The project will be developed through various phases. The construction of phase 1 will be undertaken by the prestigious Bharatmala Pariyojana project, at a cost close to Rs 17,000 crores.
Routes and Connectivity
The RRR expressway traverses through various villages and towns, providing improved transportation and accessibility. The northern region of the ring road connects to Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Yadadri, Pragnapur, Bhongir, Choutuppal and southern region to Choutuppal, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Amangal, Chevella, Shankarpally, Sangareddy.
RRR road map details reveals, the expressway connects roads linking five reserve forest areas and 125 villages.
Timeline of the RRR Project
The government of Telangana initiated the RRR project in 2017, to enhance the connectivity. The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry proposed a budget of Rs 5,500 crores for the construction of RRR around Hyderabad in 2019. Due to the financial challenges the project faced a detailed project report(DPR). In 2021, the mega project received approval to move forward.
